Beginning with etched patterns on paper, basic architectural elements were explored. The same techniques were brought into digital technology and evaluated at three stages; the first stage was an abstract analysis, while a POPS site was introduced during the second, the latter explored the concept of black box theaters.

The project integrated itself into an architectural pit in the heart of Manhattan. After observing traffic patterns of pedestrians it became apparent that the pit had become a largely ignored and bypassed feature. The structure, in an attempt to rectify this, protruded the street datum to create a visible beacon. The theater was centralized in the geometric core and was entered through one of many ramps which began at different points of traffic density.

The formal language was an accumulation of all the studies done during the course of the semester. In its final form, the jarring edges reflected the paper models which inspired the first model. However the development was manipulated in an attempt to react to the issues of the POPS area.
